No Sew Fabric Binder/Journal: Written Instructions and Video Link

Hi my Lovees.

Here are the written instructions and the link to the video.

Instructions:

Step 1:
Pre-paint or leave fabric as is.
Iron fabric and lay right side down across your surface.

Step 2:
1/2 seam allowance around the entire project
Take your first piece of cardboard that measures 6" wide by 7 " long and lay it on the left side of the fabric.
Use your marking tool to mark all sides of the cardboard.
Lift off the cardboard and place the Heat n' Bond Tape inside the lines around the border.
Add an 'X' to the center of that square and sporadically add a few extra pieces of tape in the patterns of the 'X'.
You may have to turn your fabric at this point to iron or attempt to iron it the way it is.

Step 3:
Take your piece of cardboard that measures 2" wide by 7" long and lay it to the right of the attached cover piece.
You will need to adjust the movement of the cover here.  Simply move the piece over until your cover touches without effort to the edge of the 'spine'.

Step 4:
Take your piece of cardboard that measures 6" wide by 7" long and lay it to the right of the attached back cover piece.
You will need to adjust the movement of the cover here.  Simply move the piece over until your cover touches without effort to the edge of the 'spine'.

Step 5:
Trim around your entire piece of fabric so that you have a 1/2 seam allowance.
Cut a notch in all 4 corners.
Add one strip of Heat n' Bond Tape across the entire inside of your book.
Starting from the center of your spine, press the tape and fabric together.
Do the sides the same way as your top and bottom

Congratulations you made the front, spine and back of your book.  Yay!

Step 5:
Lay the remaining fabric down on your surface.
Take your 'book' and lay it on top of the fabric.
Trace a 1/2 seam allowance around.
Set your book aside and put your newly traced fabric in front of you.

Step 6:
Cut a notch in all 4 corners.
Add one strip of Heat n' Bond Tape outside of the line you drew.
Fold your fabric so the ends meet the line in your fabric and press from the center out.
Do this around the entire piece of trimmed fabric.

Step 7:
Lay the book with the inside facing up in front of you.
Lay the material you just 'finished' on top of the book with the right side of the fabric facing up.
Put your hand on the cover of the book and lift the material back from the spine.
Put Heat n' Bond Tape over the cardboard spine, press the material into the crevices between the covers and on top of the spine.
*Make sure to firmly attach the top and bottom.*
Repeat the process for the cover and back cover of the book.

Congratulations your book just turned into a professionally made piece of art.  The fun begins now.  Before you attach the binding rings, you are now ready to decorate your book.  I used permanent ink, embossing powders and the flower/clay embellishments we've made.  You can use appliques as well.

Step 8:  Binder rings
You will need a crop-a-dile or something to make 2 holes.
Lay your book with the inside facing you.
Take your binder rings, place on your spine, center the binder rings and mark the holes to attach your binder rings.
Punch with a hole slightly smaller than the rings.
Flip your book over, place the closers with the decorative side out and flip your book so that the 'prongs' of the closures face up.
Put your binder ring holes over the closures and fasten.
Viola'!

There you have a finished and inexpensive fabric project.

Here's the process video:

Everyday is a new day to open the door to your heart and learn to art.  Lets go play!
