Inspiration and motivation.......where do you find it?
Hello Loves,
Its been yet another few months since I've posted. Life.....says it all doesn't it? I hope this finds you well.
Today we are going to discuss inspiration and motivation......where does one find it? Pinterest, I hear is good......I can't get the hang of it to be honest. Instagram....I need to get mine up and running. Posts some pictures already, T.
Inspiration is different than motivation. Inspiration to do something is different due to the fact its a feeling. Motivation is actually getting the urge to do it.
I went almost 3 years doing videos 5 times a week and I was hoping that the amount of time spent would be great for inspiring others. However, I found myself falling flat on the talent scale. I didn't give myself enough time to prepare for each video. The studio floor would be full of art supplies and I'd trip constantly trying to get things in order.
Motivation to actually pick up after each video was hard because I didn't have enough 'me' time to get things organized in a proper manner. I was left tired and ashamed of the items I would put up just to have a video.
Inspiration now-a-days is more about how the art makes the viewer feel. I'm going for feelings rather than just uploading something to have a video that day. I like the 3 days a week filming as I can research, plan and practice run the art I'd like to show you.
Motivation is easier when I don't have the amount of stress to 'get er' done'. I'm still a bit sluggish on my motivation and inspiration as I've been struggling if I should really show what I'm made of or just lay low.
I find the breathing exercise and wiping the 'yuck' off that was thrown at me on that mat relaxing. Art inspiration comes from a very deep place inside of you. Motivation comes from the excitement to show others how to do something that they didn't think they ever could.
I've got goals I'd like to organize and aim for. Motivation is low because I'm not getting enough rest. The excuses of 'what if I run out of ideas'.......oh no! One will not ever be without either if you just keep your eyes and heart tuned to you.
I can't copy another person's art as it feels odd and not welcoming. I can do a follow along tutorial and be fine as long as I add my flavor to it. I like the idea of their art technique with a twist of my own. Now that's inspiration.
Inspiration and motivation walk hand-in-hand. To find these, you simply have to pick out a few colors of paint, your substrate and the one think you love the most. I love to paint flowers and I find that motivates my inspiration to try new techniques.
One of the biggest motivators to inspiration is a new paint color or art supply. The blood starts pumping and its all in the feeling of how that color can really blend into your life. Life of your art is what makes you move. The joy of painting will inspire others and the world is a better place.
Music can also help you set the mood to your motivation as the memories can inspire you to create the memory. It can also help the brush move across the canvas. Amazing that another artist can inspire your inner artist and motivate them to just be.
Perhaps you are run down and don't know where to start. For me, I run to fabric. If I play with fabric, it will motivate my inspiration to create a ton of projects. I have to be careful with this as not everyone loves fabric like I.
Worries of not being good enough can stop your brush from moving. If this happens, ground yourself and just scribble until your hand relaxes, your mind melts and you feel like yourself again.
Watch a movie, listen to music or snoop the galleries of artists...........WAIT...STOP. Do not snoop through galleries of artists. It will completely shutdown your motivation and inspiration as it will lend to insecurities.
Instead read the comments the artists receive. It will give you insight to how they actually see art. You can draw inspiration and motivation from their excitement.
Trust me you are more motivated and inspired than you know. Its in you. All you have to do is let it be.
Blessings!
Sassy T.
